Kia Ora Koutou,

Ko Krista Huber toku ingoa,

The end of term seems to have come up quickly and what a term it has been with the weather we have all enjoyed so far this winter! Things can only get better!

I know the teachers at Muritai School have been busy with the reporting process and National Standards have not made things easier. There is no real national moderation process and schools are just sensible taking things slowly and finding their way. Muritai School has come a long way in this process. Most of all though I think it is important to value your children’s achievements and to remember each child progresses at different rates but all children make a contribution to our school environment in many different ways.

The school survey will be coming up next term. One of area of focus will be on gaining your views on the school reporting process. Please take time to fill it in as the Board values your opinions and we do look very carefully at the data we receive.

Andrew will inform the Board on the school's assessment and reporting processes at the next meeting but community input is valued. The new Board is coming together. We have had some training on Board of Trustee operations and we spent time at our last meeting looking closely at our Governance responsibilities and the role of the Board. We are well set up for the next 6 months!

Next meeting Stuart Devenport will be reporting to us on ICT developments at Muritai. It is very useful for us to receive these reports and we appreciate staff giving up an evening for this. At the same time we would like to thank our carnival committee who continue to make great strides in planning our Eastbourne Village Carnival set for the 28th November.

I hope that you all manage to get some time at home with your family this holidays. Hopefully the weather will be kind or it will be Shrek and Toy Story movies for us all! Might see you there!

Noku ma,
